The ARIS Focus

CTLT is recommeding ARIS as the only platform from the four studied to meet all of the critical criteria required by the partners. The table below compares how each platform compares against the for each criterium.

The  C’esna?em: partners provided CTLT with a list of critical criteria that all candidate mobile platforms must meet - in whole in conditionally - in order to be considered for the offsite storytelling project. ARIS is the only option of the four candidate platforms to meet all of the criteria; therefore, this report will focus on this platform’s affordances, limitations and practicalities.

The criteria is listed below, followed by a chart that summarizes the degree to which the four candidate mobile platforms met each criterium.

Criteria

Currently, all of the mobile platform options store their data on servers outside of Canada, and therefore contravene British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). However, ARIS is the only one of the candidates that does not require full user name and email registration information. Students could still create stories for the purposes of the project but they would have to author them in such a way as to protect names, images and other personal information. The Musqueam Band could assist in this process as they moderate the content of the student’s work for cultural integrity.
